About the Department
Language · Communication · Values
The Department of Humanities at Amal Jyothi College of Engineering (Autonomous) has been integral to the college since its inception. It is a supportive department — not offering a direct B.Tech, BCA or MCA programme of its own — but providing the foundational courses in English language, technical communication, life skills, professional ethics and universal human values that shape how every engineering graduate speaks, writes, reasons and conducts themselves professionally.
The faculty actively conducts research in linguistics, literature, education and social sciences, and runs a rich co-curricular programme: the annual Nobel Prize Lecture series (jointly organised with the Department of Humanities and the AJ Centre for Nanoscience & Technology), the Fig Tree lecture series, debate competitions (War of Words), photography and cartoon-drawing contests, and orientation programmes for first-year students. The department collaborates with AJECS (AJ English Club Society) on literary and oratory events throughout the year.
