Electrical & Electronics Engineering @ a glance

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was initiated in 2001. The years 2009 and 2013 marked the introduction of post- graduate courses, Power electronics & Power Systems and Energy Systems respectively. The B.Tech program has been accredited thrice by NBA - 2008, 2017 and 2020. The department prepares students to deliver competent engineers by arming them with technical knowledge and professional skills with the support of dedicated faculty and technical staff. It is a matter of pride that many of our students and alumni have garnered laurels for the department. A stellar alumnus. Justin K. Kurian (2006 batch) struck gold by achieving the 1st rank in the M.G University Examinations.
In today’s fast growing world, Electrical Engineering has a wide reach in all spheres of technology. With a highly stimulating learning experience and a rigorous academic curriculum, Amal Jyothi is the right platform to gain sound fundamentals of modern Electrical Engineering.

The last two decades have given rise to new opportunities in the design and application of Solar energy and its derivatives, energy efficient drives, wind conversion turbines among others. Application engineers play a major role in the design of systems catering to all these areas. They work closely with all streams of engineering including mechanical, aeronautical, chemical and electronics to address a wide range of interdisciplinary issues. The gamut of their activities is incredible. In fact, they are often the main arm of several EPC organizations.

B.Tech – Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)

Electrical Engineering forms the application of the laws of Physics governing electricity, magnetism, and light to develop new technologies in helping mankind. The Electrical Engineering discipline is involved in the generation, bulk power systems, protection, transmission, distribution and application of electrical energy. On the mundane side, they are also involved in that aspect that lights our homes, cooks our food and drives our machinery. They also make very important contributions in telecommunication, television, computer technology, medicine, education, space exploration, defence and other critical sectors of our society. Many scientific fields depend on electrical engineers for their design, analysis and maintenance. Engineers who specialize in Electrical and Electronics engineering are concerned with the design and analysis of controllers, power converters that eventually help in obtaining the desired characteristics of electromechanical systems. Today, Electrical engineering has a wide reach in all spheres of technology. The Electrical and Electronic Engineering student at Amal Jyothi will work closely with top-ranked faculty at superlative laboratories to acquire fundamental knowledge and theories of Electrical engineering.

M.Tech – Power Electronics and Power Systems (PEPS)

The M.Tech Programme in Power Electronics and Power Systems is approved by AICTE and affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Trivandrum. It spans four semesters, the first and second semesters being devoted to course work, seminar and laboratory sessions. The third semester is an amalgam of theory, industrial visits and a mini-project. The fourth semester is dedicated to a full-scale project. Every student is required to submit a thesis/dissertation based on the project undertaken in partial fulfilment of the requirement for the award of the Masters Degree. The alumnus have made their mark in academics, application engineering and electric drive engineers.

M.Tech – Energy Systems (ES)

The M.Tech – Energy Systems program (ES) was dictated by the compulsions of the furiously changing energy scenario. The M.Tech (ES) program is approved by AICTE and affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Trivandrum. The course is presently open to electrical engineering graduates. Energy engineers are presently groomed to work in multi-disciplinary fields. The general semester components are in line with that of the M.Tech Programme in Power Electronics and Power Systems (PEPS). The alumnus of this program have found their niche in academics, energy engineering, application engineering and energy economists
